Zaza has scored only once in 14 caps for Italy
|
Not a stat you would expect to see from a prolific goalscorer is it?

Why are you so concerned with his International record? Payet's was pretty crap until he joined us.
Ali Daei scored 109 goals for Iran but was pretty pony when he played in Germany.

What ? Of course not. I hope he does well but I am not very convinced about that he does. I hope he proves me wrong. We need a proper goalscorer badly, let´s hope he solves it.

Eggbert Nobacon 9:53 Fri Sep 2 Re: Zaza has scored only once in 14 caps for Italy Zaza played 663 mins in Serie A last season scoring 5
So that's a goal in just under every game and a half
132.6 mins per goal"""
Not bad at all. Let´s hope that form continues over here

Luisa 12:27 Fri Sep 2 Re: Zaza has scored only once in 14 caps for Italy Zaza is absolute quality and will score 15 goals in the league if fit. Very good in the air, so not sure why there has been some comment about lack of aerial prowess.""
According to this report he isn´t very good in the air

Weaknesses
Zaza’s prowess in the air is something that could be improved upon, as the man himself has acknowledged. His leap is decent enough and he is often able to rise above defenders, but Zaza will be disappointed with some of the headed chances he has squandered already this campaign.
Indeed, it is the accuracy of the connection rather than the ability to win the aerial dual that Zaza should focus on. Like many left-footers, Zaza’s right side is also a weak point.
The deadliest of frontmen are excellent one-touch finishers, and Zaza has occasionally failed to capitalise on opportunities by trying to transfer the ball onto his left rather than taking the shot on first time.
Zaza has scored just one header in Serie A and no goals with his right foot. If he can advance in these departments, the youngster’s already-respectable strike-rate will only get better.

His stats for Italy prove nothing, either way. His 14 appearances probably only add up to about 6 x 90 min full games? He is actually a proven goal scorer in a tough Italian league & approaching his prime age. What's not to like about that?

He really is going to be vital for our season... We have been missing a focal point for our attack for to long and need him to hit the ground running

I have had a season ticket for the past 2 years here and his work rate is superb also. Has a one in 2 goal ratio in Serie A over the past 4 years which is better than most.

Still would've been capped a fair few times, Egg son.
International teams don't just play the same XI every game including friendlies.

I remember when Trappatoni became Italian manager Di Canio was at his peak, he said something to the effect of ''there'd have to be the black death in Italy before Di Canio played for Italy under me".
I don't think he liked him very much.
